Meet Jack Starling

founder and lead mentor

With more than 16 years of experience supporting children and young people, Jack has worked across residential children’s homes, education and community settings.

Throughout his career, he has supported young people from a wide range of backgrounds, including those experiencing difficulties with confidence, emotional wellbeing, behaviour, relationships, education and major life changes.

Jack’s approach is warm, honest and person-centred. He takes time to understand each young person as an individual, recognise their strengths and create a safe space where they can feel heard without judgement.

His focus is not simply on addressing immediate challenges. It is about helping young people develop the confidence, resilience and practical skills they can carry into their future.

Why Norfolk Youth Mentoring was created

Jack established Norfolk Youth Mentoring because he believes every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their potential, regardless of the challenges they may be facing.

Throughout his career, he has seen how a consistent, trusted relationship can transform the way a young person sees themselves and their future. Sometimes, a young person simply needs someone who will listen, believe in them and help them find a way forward.

Norfolk Youth Mentoring was created to provide that support in a flexible, compassionate and professional way, working alongside young people, families, schools and other professionals.

“Every young person has potential. Sometimes they just need the right support, guidance and encouragement to realise it.”

Supporting young people across Norfolk

Norfolk Youth Mentoring is a professional mentoring service for young people aged 10–18. Support can be delivered through individual mentoring, school-based provision and dedicated School Mentoring Days.

Every programme is tailored around the young person’s circumstances, strengths and goals. Jack also works collaboratively with parents, carers, schools and professionals to provide joined-up support and encourage meaningful, lasting progress.
